About The Dead Sea:
So what is it that makes Dead Sea cosmetics so special?
To understand why our Dead Sea products are so good for your skin, you first have to understand what The Dead Sea is and it's background. The Dead Sea is actually a huge enclosed lake which does not connect with any other body of water. Because of this, as water evaporates, it leaves behind various minerals, nutrients and salts, making it the saltiest body of water in the world. In fact, the waters of the sea are so dense with minerals and salts that you can float on the surface of the sea without sinking! The Dead Sea is the largest source of minerals in the world, with up to 32% concentration of minerals and with and the largest variety of minerals (21-23 different types). In fact, the human body is composed of 4-5% minerals. These are elements that are essential to the skin's metabolic processes and to the bodily functions. Another unique secret about the sea is that it's located at the lowest point on the planet - 400 meters below sea level - making it the place closest to the soul of Earth. Why are Dead Sea Cosmetics Good For My Skin? Skin Care from The Dead Sea has been famous for centuries: Why was it Cleopatra's Choice?
Questions:
Why is it called the Dead Sea? It is called the Dead Sea because nothing lives in it. It is some of the saltiest water anywhere in the world, almost six times as salty as the ocean! The Dead Sea is completely landlocked and it gets saltier with increasing depth. There is no seaweed or plants of any kind in or around the water. There are no fish or any kind of swimming, squirming creatures living in or near the water. As a matter of fact, what you will see on the shores of the Sea is white, crystals of salt covering everything.
Why is the Dead Sea so Salty? Why is it so salty? All roads lead to the Sea when it comes to the rivers in the area. The Dead Sea is continually fed water from the river and streams coming down off the mountains that surround it. However, no rivers drain out of the Dead Sea. The only way water gets out of the Sea is through evaporation. When the water evaporates, it leaves behind all the dissolved minerals in the Sea, just making it saltier. In fact, it's through the dual action of; 1) continuing evaporation and 2) minerals salts carried into the Sea from the local rivers, that makes the Sea so salty. The fact that the water doesn't escape the Sea just traps the salts within its shores. There's nothing living in the Dead Sea because it got so salty, so quickly, that evolution has not had a chance to produce any creatures that could adapt to such brutal conditions.
